Busy, chaotic, a million things happening at once – that’s how most people would describe this former Vietnamese capital, also known as Saigon. Peel away the hustle and bustle, however, and you’ll find a small but growing gay scene. It may not be much compared to larger cities like Bangkok, but it is cherished for its relaxed vibes and weekend parties that draw crowds from all over the city.
Like the rest of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is pretty welcoming to gay travellers. Expect friendly smiles from the locals as you take in the city – whether you’re slurping down a steamy bowl of fresh pho, or sipping a fancy cocktail on a rooftop bar.
